Apology and Notice to Customers Using Shimadzu ELB Series Balances

Please be advised that on certain Shimadzu ELB series balances manufactured between May 2017 and July 2018, the battery may leak if the AC adapter is connected while the battery is still in the main unit.

If the liquid that leaks from the battery makes contact with your eyes, skin, or clothing, it may cause damage.

If you have already used a battery and AC adapter together on one of the affected models below, stop using the instrument immediately, take care not to touch the battery directly, and do not remove the battery cover.

Shimadzu will repair the affected products free of charge regardless of the warranty period or whether there is a leak.

[How to check affected products]
Look at the label on the side of the balance and check the following.

(1) Balance model number (“TYPE” on the label)
(2) Whether S/N is applicable (“NO.” on the label)
